I don’t know about you, but I found myself in need of a simple, clear commission contract this year. After five years of doing this, I figured it was just time. Time to be a little more buttoned up, time to have better communication about expectations, and just time to get this done. I’d heard of other artists having commission contracts, but I had always relied on emailed agreements and Instagram messages to outline expectations. Here and there, I might forget to clarify a standard practice so I’d find myself doing additional revisions without compensation, or (thankfully, rarely) I’d have a client bail when I was most of the way through a commission.
